Chasing Waters

Thirst for nature? Dream to venture? Here in the skirts of Valencia ,a small town in Negros Oriental, lies a majestic gem of waters: The Casaroro Falls.

This gem is a 100 ft drop of water to where the waters are as cold as ice and the air as fresh as it could be. One can swim in the rivers flowing but not where the waterfall meets land. Swimming to that area is very dangerous.

To get here from Dumaguete City one must ride a jeepney to Valencia where the fare rate is 12Php. From the town proper you can either hike for about 5km or negotiate to local "habal-habal" drivers. "Habal-Habal" is a motorcycle used for transportation used in the town. The fare for the "habal-habal" would cause you about 50Php.

As for us, we hiked (walk/jog) to the falls which took us for about an hour. Blazing heat of the sun was painful. But a canopy of trees trails the road bit by bit. It is pretty much an easy hike for you are only to follow the concrete road that leads uphill the mountain.

As you have reached the destination you still have to treck to the falls. At the top, one is to be asked to pay a fee of only 10Php. This money is used to preserve nature in the surrounding. A flight of stairs leads you down the mountain side to the river. Going down was easy but going up was pretty hard and tiresome.

Once you are down by the river, you will follow the river upward which will lead you to the falls.

You'll go over rocks and wade the waters.

There was once a bridge to make the way easier but was destroyed when a typhoon hit the town. This is a part left of it.

As you follow the trek and enjoy the adventure of it. You come to appreciate nature and its beauty. As cold water hit you feet and as rocks braze them, you come closer and closer to the gem.

When you reach the end of the trek, you can appreciate the wind that brings small droplets of water being tossed around as the waters hit the ground. You can sit and enjoy near it and you can swim in the ice cold waters that flows after it.

Nature is such a beauty where greens grow as they are. Come and visit the Philippines and come wander. Visit our small town where your adventures.
